18 May, 2008 - Snetterton (6-hour)

MOORE'S R6R (Tony Jimenez, Mike Eglington and Jim Agombar) and SWEATSHOP MOORE'S RACING R1 (Hugh Brasher, Nick Roake and John-Paul Scott) had a great weekend.

Qualifying

Both bikes were looking good on track having been superbly prepared. On the R6R we didn't quite get the gearing right but still managed to qualify 2nd in class.
The R1 had a more torrid time with Nick Roake hitting the tarmac rather hard on his behind.

The pit crew did a superb job of putting the bike back together and were soon near the front.

Race

The start of the race saw Jim Agombar get his usual lightning start, John-Paul Scott didn't quite launch so well but was soon into his stride and was harrowing the lead team whilst Moores Racing R6R was in 4th place.

All the teams were experiencing heavy fuel consumption due to high winds on the back straight and because of this we were all having to pit much earlier for fuel (R1 45 mins and R6R 50 mins). Nick and Mike took the helm of their respective bikes and grafted hard to maintain positions. Nick took the lead when GB Moto had a clutch problem and Mike moved into 3rd. The third hour was also hard graft as Hugh and Tony took to the track and although they both stayed in position, the opposition were mounting a major assault on both our teams.

Moores Racing R6R held position until the end of the race with the only scare being a splash and dash for Jim with 15 mins to go. The R1 had a much more exciting time as they had lost the lead to GB Moto but when GB Moto pitted for fuel The R1 got to within 2 secs of them. Sadly John-Paul high sided coming out of Russell's chicane and it was game over re the win. Nobody was upset as JP was racing hard for the win and sometimes these things happen. The R1 was hastily patched up by the pit crew and young Nick was sent out and told to just cruise round and bring her home which he did in spite of it not being the most pleasant bike he had ever ridden!

So final result was Sweatshop Moore's Racing R1 2nd and 2nd in class and Moore's Racing R6R 3rd but more importantly 1st in class.

The R1 leads the championship and the R6R although only 4th in championship, is only 16 points off the lead and with 5 rounds to go are in good shape-watch this space!

Finally we were judged to be the most professionally competent/turned out team.

All the riders would like to thank the team for their amazing work over the weekend and in no particular order they were.

Kailah Eglington, Karen Gower, Luke, Steve Mulholland, Dave Roake, Phill Haynes, Dave Jackson, Shaun Eglington, Andy Od, Fraser Greenroyd, Bruce and his 2 lads, Martin Childs, Dave Peach.

So a bit of work to be done on the R1 before Pembrey but you know I wish the next race was this weekend coming!
